1 year old vomiting

Looking for advice before I begin to feel like I’m losing the plot with the health professionals! (please no horror stories I don’t want to feel any more worried! Reassured if anything!)

Our 15 month old started projectile vomiting 8 days ago, we ended up in A&E and they said it was likely just a bug. She continued to vomit through the night so we saw a doctor the next day again said likely a bug and her throat was abit red. Next night she vomits again and ends up dehydrated (no wet nappy for 12 hours). Back to A&E again they said viral and her throat was quite red so prescribed difflam spray.

Appetite starts to pick up over next 3 days no vomiting but explosive thick bowel movements with undigested food (sorry if tmi!). 7 days after first vomit she is off her food again and really bad gas and bloating, vomits again. Back at doctors today and she said it’s not her throat and requested a urine and poo sample (still trying to get both!) to be tested for bacterial infections.

We are concerned this is not a ‘bug’ but could be underlying issues with an allergy/intolerance maybe? Anyone had similar experience where toddler has had days of vomitting got better then started again?

thanks

Yes I've had this with both of mine. They seem to get better and then vomit again, some bugs are just like that.

Keep offering small amounts of bland food and make sure she's getting plenty of fluid

I’ve recently had a bug with my 3yo where he was only sick once, then next sick 5 DAYS later. Nothing in between. All fine now. I think it can happen like that. My 1yo with the same bug was on and off vomiting for 6 days.

Hi, If you have visited the farm recently with your child please check for Cryptosporidiosis. My friend's children caught it and it was very nasty. The symptoms- vomiting and diarrhoea can continue up to 3-4 weeks unfortunately

Yes this has happened to my son twice when he was younger with stomach bugs where he's been poorly, seemed to improve for a few days and then vomited again.
