Threadworms in vagina

My DD has threadworms. I have treated her with ovex, just waiting for it to work. She was up last night saying her vagina was sore, she had blood and discharge and there was a fucking threadworm in there. I managed to get it out and bless her she’s so uncomfortable.

do I need to do anything in addition to the usual hygiene and ovex or does she need a GP as the fuckers are infiltrating other areas 🤮😱😭

She’ll be fine. Just remember to dose her again in x weeks as per the instructions. I would put all her bedding, towels used etc on a hot wash. Give her a good bath and scrub her fingernails and wash her bottom area well.

medicine works fast.

You need to treat everyone in the household with ovex,

HarrietTheSpyglass · 01/07/2024 09:13

Yes everyone has been treated and in following all of the advice on showering AM, towels washed daily etc etc just didn’t know if she needed anything else due to them being inside her vagina. Like I saw it go in and had to wait a few minutes for it to be visible again to remove it 🤮

It’s common for girls to get threadworms in their vagina. Horrible I know. I’ve done some picking out of threadworms myself. Our gp gave dd phenerghan to calm her down at night as she was super distressed with them. The ovex will work but apparently they don’t like coconut oil so I put it around DD’s anus to discourage them from travelling. How old is she ? It sounds like she’s having periods? If she normally uses them maybe she could pop a tampon in to stop them going into the vagina. it’s also worth giving her a probiotic as they can cause problems in the gut.

The ovex done properly will help. I put thick vaseline around anus and vagina openings at night for the first couple of nights, if they are alive you can’t feel them on the skin. Just pop on knickers at night and wash vulva and bum in the morning. The ovex seems to work well and I don’t go mad with burning washing everything else. Flannels are good for washing and drying privates, or kitchen roll as you don’t then need to do towels every day.

I’m sorry but I think you might need to get her checked out depending on her age- how old is she? If she is young then blood and discharge is not normal.

This sounds gross but at night you should put a blob of vaseline on her anus before she goes to sleep, and then she should wear some snug fitting knickers.

She is sore because the little fuckers come out and then secrete a substance that they use to glue their eggs to her skin which makes her sore and itchy and then she scratches which makes it worse.

The vaseline will stop them doing this while they die. In the morning shower her off and the knickers go straight into the wash. Do this for a week, and although I think Ovex no longer says to re-dose, you should still give her another dose 10 days after the first.

We used sudo-crème on the anus to stop them escaping, suffocate them and calm down the itching.

HarrietTheSpyglass · 01/07/2024 10:56

@Dressinggowntime no, no periods yet. She’s only 8. The bleeding I think was from the scratching, it was outside of her vagina but she definitely had discharge from the irritation.

My dd has had threadworms three times and always in the vagina too. It's so horrid for them. I think if the discharge is still there after tonight then take her to the gp as that doesn't sound usual.
