Torn perineum

My Daughter (4) just jumped off the sofa (I think jumped whilst on it and her bum caught on the sofa rather than her landing on the floor). She started screaming, saying her bum hurt.

I've looked and she has 2 little tears on her perineum and they were bleeding. They're not massive but definitely 2 tears. They didn't bleed for long but she was crying her eyes out.

Will this just heal on its own or do I need to take some sort of action? They don't look particularly deep but I've never dealt with this sort of thing before?! Obviously it hurts her to wee etc. Any tips on how I should help this heal? She was beside herself 😩.

Use the jug of warm water trick when she wees.

Did you see it happen? It might be quite bruised, so pain killers might be good.

I slipped off a wall at a similar age and hit my bits on the corner of the bricks. It bled like crazy. The doctor got it to stop bleeding and then just left it to heal on its own. I wasn’t allowed to take a bath in case it dissolved the scab and the wound opened again.

I did similar as a child by sliding off my bike saddle and banging myself on the crossbar. I do remember it stinging like hell and bleeding a lot but I didn't tell my parents and it healed up fine with no treatment!!
