Tick bite?

Hi, I picked my little one up from nursery today and she has what I'm worried might be a tick bite. Has anyone else had experience with this? Goes without saying I will take her to the chemist or GP tomorrow to check it out but just wanted some guidance ahead of that.

That is what a tick bite with Lyme disease transmitted would look like.
I daresay other things could also look like that.
But, personally, I'd be flagging that up and expecting Lyme disease to be tested for or suitable anti biotics to be prescribed as precaution.

Lyme disease is a bacteria and can be very serious. My friend has chronic health problems for life now from an infection that wasn't picked up in time.

Not to scare you, but you want that seriously considered before treatment decision is made.

definitely see the GP. She may need antibiotics ASAP

Gulbekian · 27/06/2024 19:25

Yes, that very much looks like the bull's eye ring associated with a tick bite. You should have her seen as soon as possible. All the best.

Swollenandgrouchy · 27/06/2024 19:26

Bullseye rash. Needs antibiotics ASAP.

imnotsickbutimnotwell · 27/06/2024 19:26

Yes that is the bullseye rash for lymes disease. You need antibiotics pronto. Does your GP have out of hours? Or can you call 111 for an out of hours appointment? I wouldn’t wait I would get them tonight if you can. Some pharmacy’s can prescribe antibiotics apparently.

I would ring 111 now for an OOO GP appt.

AVS1105 · 27/06/2024 19:30

Thanks everyone - calling 111 now!

There's no tick still in it, and you would have noticed if it was big enough to drop off, so there is a reasonable chance it isn't. It doesn't look dissimilar to when dd2 had ringworm, for example.

BUT it is not worth the risk, so get them seen asap, so I'd go to A&E/get out of hours appointment via 111 now rather than risking it.

LunchWithAGruffalo · 27/06/2024 19:32

Do you know for certain she's been bitten by a tick? All the ones I've had the tick has still been attached so it's been very obvious, but it's quite possible that tick has dropped off/get knocked off.

It looks quite like the start of ringworm,.

Definitely get her seen ASAP as either way you need to know and get the correct treatment.

UpThereForThinkingDownThereForDancing · 27/06/2024 19:36

Ringworm (fungal) wouldn't have a wound in the middle.
It looks like a radiant infection pathway to me.
Ticks drop off once they are full.

ChrisPPancake · 27/06/2024 19:45

It's quite regular - they have pushed a toy on themselves or something have they? Only dc once had a 'rash' of little circles on their thigh. We were mystified until we saw them prodding on their leg with a pen lid without thinking when drawing..

I'd still call 111 to be sure. How are they in themselves?

Pieceofpurplesky · 27/06/2024 19:53

Don't take the risk that it might not be a tic bite - get it seen to

oberst · 27/06/2024 19:54

I'd 100% be calling 111 as it looks like what others are saying, the bulls eye mark!

AVS1105 · 27/06/2024 19:58

111 are sending her in to be seen - thanks for the guidance everyone! It's so hard to know when it's your mum brain being OTT isn't it but definitely rather be safe than sorry on this one x
