Slapped cheek in toddlers, feeling poorly?

So my little one came out in a rash which we thought was an allergic reaction, very bad on his face, he had been unsettled for a few nights previous to the rash. Went to the doctors as it was getting very angry looking and he had a temperature but generally ok. Doctor diagnosed slapped cheek and advised to give paracetamol to keep temp down. The rash has now spread everywhere even the bottoms of the feet. My question is; most of what I have read said they should feel better after the rash comes out, he is very up and down more now than before the rash appeard. Has anyone else’s children seemed worse after they have got the rash?
