Hi, my DD3 was in hospital for an impaction two weeks ago. She was previously on cosmocol and getting on OK with this but then we went on holiday and something changed and she went 2 weeks only one poo in between and got impacted and had to have an enema. In the hospital they changed her to movicol and also gave her sodium picosulfate. She's been absolutely miserable since. Her tummy is all of a sudden distended when wasn't before. I got told to use the sodium Picosulfate when things were dire and not every night. We've used it 3 times since coming home and she's poo'd the next day after using it. I personally feel she was better on the cosmocol than the movicol. Not sure what the difference is?

Also, does anybody use sodium picosulfate daily for their little ones? It does say not for under 12 on box so perhaps this is why the hospital said don't use daily. I'm at a loss. She hasn't gone to childcare today and keeps falling asleep in the middle of the day, very irritable and just not herself. I have a GP appointment for her next week which was soonest I could get!

Any advice appreciated. TIA

Sodium Picosulfate we have used for our 7 year old DS . It creates all day long sensation at the rectum like going out. It can be used for evacuating the bowels only once but it's explosive and results in diarrhea when used frequently. It can be avoided for kids. Movicol Paediatric sachets can be gradually increased as per Eric site , i can see here in lot of threads and good reference from @witchend , we can see the results in 3rd or 4 th day.
