When do babys get their teeth ?

This might sound stupid but anyway
my dd is 8 months and has no teeth . I’ve just seen a girl who had her baby 2 days after me with 4 teeth?!
is this normal for an 8 month old to have no teeth when there’s 7/8 month olds with loads of teeth?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My son got his first tooth at 8 months and sprouted a few very quickly thereafter. It's all within the realms of normal

LightSpeeds · 23/06/2024 22:24

Only one of mine had a tooth before 12 months.

jazzandh · 23/06/2024 22:26

Teeth are genetic. My eldest had no teeth until 12 months, the youngest cut his at 3 months! When we looked at our own baby records each child matched a parent!

Depends. It is unusual to not have a single tooth through at 8 months, but not unheard of. DD's first 2 milk teeth came through at 4 months.

ladygindiva · 23/06/2024 22:27

Two of my 3 DC got their first tooth at 8 months but one was a year old, infact she had her first birthday, took her first steps, cut her first tooth and said her first word all in the same week.

I’m just not sure when to raise it with the health visitor 🤣

Both of mine got their first tooth at 6 weeks.

xyzandabc · 23/06/2024 22:28

Some are born with teeth, some don't have any until after their 1st birthday.

RandomMess · 23/06/2024 22:28

3 after 14 months
1 by 12 months

I thought it was weird how a baby younger than my dd has 4 teeth ! Whilst she has 0🤣

My youngest got his first tooth at 10 months. He also didn’t lose his first tooth until he was 4 months off his 8th birthday! By that point he was already dubious about the tooth fairly!

Lolloped · 23/06/2024 22:30

6-8 months is typical according to dental textbooks but some babies get them much earlier or much later. All 3 of mine got their first teeth at 11 months

ForeverTired89 · 23/06/2024 22:31

My DD got her first tooth 6 days after her 1st birthday! Got them in a weird order too, had 3 at the bottom before any at the top.

A little boy I looked after didn't get his teeth until 10 months and they just kept coming after that until he had them all.
