Hand flapping - nearly 3

Hello

My little boy will be 3 in September. Nursery have brought up that he flaps his hands up and down and that I should mention this to the health visitor. I am aware that this is called 'stimming' and can be a sign of autism. My little boy does not have any other signs of autism. Should I speak to the health visitors about it? Should I be concerned/has anyone else experienced this with their child? Many thanks 😊

Maybe just keep an eye out & monitor. If it's autism it'll become quite obvious if you observe over time

Do Nursery have any other concerns or just the stimming?

FuzzyStripes · 19/06/2024 17:27

I’m surprised nursery has suggested speaking to your HV about just one concern. Is there anything else?

It might be worth doing this simple 2.5 year SLT progress checker too @Lollyl88

Thanks. Yes I was surprised they mentioned it as we don't have any other concerns. Thanks for the link @BraMaHaLas I'm going to give that a go!

Spoke to health visitor today and she said just likely a phase and will pass!

Did she suggest checking in with you again in a couple of months?
