Low neutrophils

Hi everyone, our little girl was born at 35+1 due to IUGR and static growth. She is now 7+2 weeks (2+3 adjusted).

When she had her first blood test a few weeks ago everything was normal but her neutrophils were slightly lower than expected. They asked us to come back for a repeat blood test and that was yesterday. I’ve just had a phone call to say everything is stable apart from her neutrophils which have gone down a bit more. The doctor said he wasn’t concerned as everything else is stable but they want us back for another blood test in 2 weeks time to see if they’ve gone up.

He asked me if she seems okay in herself and I said yes. She hasn’t picked up any illnesses yet and we do go out a lot to shops, cafes etc. He said that’s a good sign that she seems fine and her other bloods are normal.

I asked him what could be causing this and he said ‘if it was cancer then other things would be low too’ which both reassured me and terrified me as he mentioned cancer without me even asking about that.

Does anyone have experience of this and can share what happened to their little ones? I’m so worried as it’s gone down further!

To preface I did have preeclampsia and I know that, as well as IUGR, can cause some neutropenia.

Thank you.

They mention cancer as that's most peoples concern of course but it would be very different blood results
I have autoimmune neutropenia (common in children, rare in adults) and was diagnosed in my 30s
My count is about 0.3 but I am on GCSF injections to increase my neutrophils
They do fluctuate normally and they would have to do repeat tests to check the levels
