Chicken pox, fever came back

First time poster here, from the Netherlands. Have read many MN threads since i have children. They are so much better than the Dutch ones, loving use of language & sense of humor from Brits😀

long story ahead!

I’n looking for (hopefully positive) experience with CP where children had a fever come back after a few days.

My DS (3yo) started with one spot on Friday, low grade fever (38.3) on Saturday, many pox the following days , even in his mouth. He had no fever after that first day up until today (38-38.6) (Wednesday evening) and the website of our gp states to call when children get a fever after being fever free for a few days, so I did. He is otherwise well, albeit tired and more grumpy, a little cough, eating and drinking reasonably well etc.

Out of hours doc was not worried after checking him out (listened to lungs, looked in ears, checked oxygenation and looked at his pox). A few look a little infected but nothing major (i agree,my eldest son had infected pox and they were really different). Got sent home bc they said sometimes fever is on and off with CP so not to worry.

I am a major worrier (hence the nickname-and yes i am seeing someone for that 😉) But we do have a history of sh*t going south after going to out of hours, so I know they don’t always know best. Plus (I think this was the same in the UK) there have been news articles about horrific secondary infections after CP a few years back that don’t want to leave my head!

thanks for making it this far ! Hope for some shared experiences… Did any of your kids develop a fever on day 6 of chickenpox and it NOT being something scary??

p.s. Im staying with him through the night to check on him. My DH always do this when one of our little ones is unwell.
