Hi, a few questions, I’m a postpartum nervous wreck tbh, which will be evident if you read the rest of this I’m sure...!
Dd1, age 4, has threadworm. Diagnosed by eggs around bum by me and then GP 5 days later as Ovex hadn’t stopped the eggs yet. I feel terrible as she has had a sore bum for a while which I thought was just dodgy wiping. She then started having restless nights, wetting herself a bit more often, and has been incredibly moody which I put down to regression after dd2 was born, 2 months ago. So I think she’s had this for a while bless her. When I put two and two together, I asked and she said her bum and vulva are itchy all the time. 😔
The doctor said take a second dose at 5 days seeing as the first hadnt helped yet, so we did on Tuesday. Has anyone else had to do this and that was enough and it worked? We’ll still be taking the “second” dose in 2 weeks. I think it’s working now for me, but dd2 tends to hold in poos.
Does it take longer for Ovex to work if they’ve been infected for a while? Is it certain I’ll see worms in her poo if it works? Is that my only way of knowing?
Has anyone had experience of the vulval itching? Did it stop after taking Ovex? Doctor also prescribed some thrush cream just incase, which we are using, and slathering on sudocrem to try stop any of the buggers migrating/reduce any itching. Twice daily showers and all the hygiene measures as much as possible.
Also, has anyone got experience of dealing with it with a newborn? I don’t know how I’m going to be calm waiting 6 weeks with the baby for this to pass. Dd1 obsessed with baby and dd2 loved sucking a finger until we got her onto dummies so I’m fearing the worst, especially since I seem to have it too. No idea if baby has it but her bum is looking more red than usual. She has such sensitive skin it’s really hard to use anything on it as a barrier. Currently using Weleda nappy cream as a barrier, think sudocrem & Vaseline might bring her out in a rash if I tried it.
Thanks x
