Hi, just wanting some advice on is this normal or not.
My 10 year old son is usually fit and healthy with the odd cold or infection per year. This year each month he's been off school for 2 or 3 days with a temp, cold, cough, sore throat, ulcer on his throat, sore tummy etc.
He's very active, slim, eats really well, takes vitamins and sleeps well. He plays a lot of football.
He's been having issues with a child at school & also with his teacher because of this boy.
I've now got it into my head he's got leukaemia.
Is it normal for a 10 year old to catch so many bugs?
We have the docs tomorrow.
Thanks for reading. X

I would ask the gp for a blood test if it’s affecting energy and concentration at school, might be something simple like vit d deficiency x

It's not usual to test for vitamin D deficiency - it's much cheaper just to give the supplement (and if you take a multivitamin very unlikely to be efficient anyway).

Just hitting a load of viral illnesses sounds a lot more likely than leukaemia - for the typical types in children there is deterioration on pretty much a daily basis.

My son was catching everything due to vit d deficiency. But he was very lethargic all the time. Not just when unwell. He's feeling alot better since high dose vit d.

Oh and he was taking a multivitamin every day and was still very deficient. Might not be this but worth asking GP.
