Recovery after appendicitis

DD had her appendix removed a week ago via laparoscopy. She still staying it hurts where the appendix was (rather than the entry sites) , especially when she’s walking.

she hasn’t been resting much and my thought is she’s probably overdoing it rather than it being anything more sinister. She’s got no temperature or anything like that. If she’s no better tomorrow I’ll call the hospital but how long did it take your children to get over one?

Ds had open surgery because it was during covid.

He was unable to sit up for about 36 hours, and it took a lot of effort to get him upright due to the pain. We then got him home and he really stayed mostly in bed for around a week, but after that he was much better.
If he over did himself then it was quite painful for a good number of weeks though.

However they did tell us to get it checked out if we were worried, temperature came up, or more pain as there are some very rare complications-I think bowel sticking to scar tissue was one - but I got the impression that it would be a lot more pain than you're describing though.
I suspect in your case it's simply healing pain, but I would check in case.

How old is she?

she’s 13. Il probably give them a ring in the morning just to be on the safe side, but she’s been up and about every day since the operation. She’s incredible sporty and driven so laying about doing nothing is her worst nightmare!

Shes also always much better in the mornings which is why I suspect she’s overdoing it.
