Very large tonsils with tonsillitis

My ds currently has to tonsillitis. He's on antibiotics but I've just looked at his tonsils and they are huge! Almost touching. Is this normal for them to be so big? Only been on antibiotics a day so hoping it will calm them down soon.

My DD's tonsils went like this when she had tonsillitis! Her tonsils are large, but thankfully once the tonsillitis had gone, they weren't as big. She obviously had loads of swelling. Hopefully it's the same for your DC!

Yes, my DD gets recurrent tonsillitis and her tonsils get absolutely huge.

This used to happen to my brother. A tonsillectomy was a massive improvement.
