Chicken pox and siblings

Hi all,

My almost 4 year olds came out in chicken pox on Saturday, we are flying to Portugal on the 4th of June. I have an almost 3 year old and a 9 week old, so I’m just working out the timings of my others catching it!
It looks like it’s 2 weeks(ish) between siblings, does this mean my other 2 will both get it around the same time as each other? Is my baby also likely to get it?

thanks!

When my eldest two had it, ds1 came down with it two weeks to the day after ds2...ds2 was just heading back to school when ds1 was off.

I think you'll probably be fine (just) and it's likely the youngest two will get it...although if you're bf I believe baby may have some immunity from you? Although whether that stops them catching it or just gives a milder version I can't remember.

When they do come out with it, I'd do lots of warm baths from day 1 which is said to bring spots out quicker...mixed reviews on that but certainly worth a go!

Fingers crossed for you it works out op.

I’ve just checked back to three years ago when we had it in the house. We’ve got three dc and the eldest one started with it on the 29th of May. Her brother and sister ( 6months) both around the 16th June. I think you just about might be ok for the holiday but be aware the second two will likely be worse so try and get all your holiday prep done asap. The baby was much worse than the other two and it was a very miserable time. Wish I’d known you could vaccinate

Thank you both. I was pretty sure it was around the 2 week mark.
@AuroraAnimal I hadn’t heard that about the baths, so thanks for that.
Apparently March-May is chicken pox season, brilliant news! 😩

When they were kids, my now adult daughter’s spots arrived 2 weeks after her now adult sisters. More recently my granddaughter’s spots also came out exactly 2 weeks to the day after her sister’s…

DD got it exactly 2 weeks after DS as well...
