Sickness bug

DS5 has come down with a sickness bug.

first vomited yesterday at 6am and then had atleast 10 bouts of diarrhoea. Was sick again last night at 8pm.

Has had one bout of diarrhoea this morning, drinking water reluctantly, not eating any food. Temp of over 38 even with calpol and is very gaunt today not interested in anything.

Not sure whether to hold out as hoping it’s just a 48 hour bug or whether to phone for advice, not really sure that they would do anything to be honest other than let it run its course.

Just wondering what others would do

Have you tried ice lollies? Or you can buy rehydration sachets from the pharmacy. As long as he’s drinking and able to wee I wouldn’t worry about food. Keeping hydrated is more important.

Yes tried those too but nothing. His temp is now 38.5 and he’s asleep just exhausted.

Are you alternating calpol and ibuprofen so that he has the max dose of each across 24hrs? Also try some flat lemonade and just sips, to make it flat stir a spoon of sugar in. Most important to just get fluids to stay down at the moment then add some dry toast and quavers when he feels better.

You don’t have to try and bring a temperature down unless they’re miserable or in pain.
