Jaw / gum pain?

My almost 4 year old is inconsolable tonight with some form of jaw or maybe even gum pain?

Gave calpol 2 hours ago and he's still waking up every 10 minutes crying. My partner has just gone out now to get some ibuprofen and I've told him to pick up some bonjela too.

I'm sure he's got all his teeth, what could this be?

Doesn't have any of temp or even illness symptoms, just lots of pain. Feeling quite useless right now and even debating if I need to take him to A&E if the pain medication doesn't help? Or do we wait it out at home?

Thank you in advance if anyone's awake reading this 🙏🏼

Any decay?

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 10/05/2024 01:18

I’m a dentist. Look carefully at his teeth. Any areas on the gums that look swollen like a spot? Or red. Feel the gums - anywhere puffy or particularly tender when you touch?
Any tiny holes or areas where the tooth is a different colour? Not necessarily dark, decay can appear opaque chalky white. When’s the last time he went to the dentist?
Does he have 20 teeth?

Hi, teeth look absolutely fine. Can't see a single sign of decay, his teeth and gums are literally in perfect condition (or so they look) which is what the dentist said before too. He has got all 20 teeth too yes.

He calmed down about 3am but has woke up for some more nurofen, hopefully he'll feel better today 🤞🏼

How is your son OP?

strugglingmomx · 11/05/2024 07:38

Managed to get an emergency appointment yesterday and they couldn't find any issues whatsoever! Although he'd been absolutely fine since then too and hasn't complained since 6am yesterday, seems to have just been a random pain one night, very strange.

That is really strange but glad he’s ok. Small children can’t always describe pain that well, I wonder if it was ear/ sinus/ throat?
