What did he do? That looks like it needs to be lanced. Tonight.

rainingoutsideagain · 09/05/2024 19:55

Defo needs the buildup taken out I would go to a&e for them to release it

Honeybee129 · 09/05/2024 19:57

He was putting a toy car down the slide and got it caught

Like pp said, what did he do? Any chance of a foreign body inside like a thorn? Is it painful? It looks it.

Do you have a late night pharmacy nearby? It definitely needs looking at. At the very least do you have something like Savlon until you can get it seen?

Yeah, a and e

WolfFoxHare · 09/05/2024 19:58

Jeeeesus that doesn’t look great. Take him to see a medical professional. Call 111 and see if they can get him an out of hours GP appointment, if not I would actually go to A&E. You might get posters saying ‘it’s not an accident OR an emergency’ but I’d be worried that’s either an insect bite with an allergic reaction or a serious fast-moving infection.

Honeybee129 · 09/05/2024 19:59

Okay thank you I’ll call 111 now

If you have a felt tip, use it to draw a couple of marks around the outside of the swelling so you can see if it’s getting worse.

Cadela · 09/05/2024 20:01

I would skip 111 and go straight to A&E tbh op.

Looks like he needs it lanced and infection appearing that quickly is a red flag. Better to be safe than sorry.

Keep an eye out for a very high or very low temp and if his hands and feet are very cold, if he’s not making sense, or is slurring his words. If you can’t wake him or he is v drowsy I would call an ambulance and state possible sepsis. It happens so quickly in little ones, I’d really suggest you don’t err on the side of caution and get it looked at asap.

WolfFoxHare · 09/05/2024 20:03

Yeah actually I take back my 111 advice. They take so long to call back and they’ll probably say to take him to a&e anyway.

Seed90 · 09/05/2024 20:09

Don’t call 111 - he needs to go to A&E. hope he’s ok OP

Already managed to get through to 111 they’ve told me to take him to minor injuries now
