Sore throat after 2 week cough

Does anyone have any experience of this? My DS(12) has had a cough for 2 weeks. It started off dry but then went phlegmy. Stuff he is coughing up is clear. Last night he said his throat had started hurting. The pain has woken him up this morning and he says he feels unwell and achey but he doesn't have a temp. Is this just another bug on top of the one he already has? The cough has been a really bad one with lots of coughing (loads last night) but he has felt OK until now

Did you test him for covid? Viruses in this country are 'just viral' meaning everyone is ill but no one is tested for anything, no one knows what virus affects whom. It's important to find out what virus it is, if you can, especially with a persistent cough. I learn all my medical information from Mayo Clinic, Cleveland clinic & NIH. An untreated virus can later cause a bacterial infection. Or it can become chronic. It amazes me how we all accept how everyone is ill for long periods of time and how this is normalized instead of doctors & public health (inexistent in the UK) pushing to find out the cause. But why would the cause matter when treatment is so restricted https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/at-least-550-million-of-covid-drugs-wasted-in-the-uk/

At least £550 million of Covid drugs wasted in the UK

Britain’s unused stock is the highest in Europe, with more than one million expired antiviral courses – a figure that could double by June
