Tooth pain

DD is 7 years old. She has lost her front four baby teeth, her front two adult teeth have fully come through the two beside them are about halfway out.
Unfortunately on one side her (baby) canine is pushing against the back of the emerging tooth and causing her daily pain. She currently has Calpol daily when the pain gets to bad.

I took her to the dentist who said that the baby canine teeth would probably not fall out until she was ten and there was basically nothing to be done in the meantime. It cannot be right or normal that she is expected to bear daily tooth pain for the next two/three years? DD is usually pretty stoical but she often now says she cannot bear the pain.

Has anyone been given similar advice or faced the same situation? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Oh that sounds horrible for her. Only advice I have is try anbesol gel. I use it on my toddler occasionally and always makes my finger go numb for a few minutes afterwards.
