My 12 year old daughter had a bad cough and I took her to GP, she got amoxicillin antibiotics. She started having a reaction to them (throwing up). We went to A&e and they gave her another type of antibiotics called Clarithromycin. She reacted to these even worse. So they asked that she stop them. Since stopping her cough has gotten better. The issue is she’s only coughing in the morning and almost throwing up. It’s very clear mucus but I feel the more anxious I am the more anxious she gets.my anxiety comes from seeing her chocking and throwing up when she was on the antibiotics. How do I not show my anxiety? ):

By recognition that it is making your daughter anxious and making the situation worse? You just need to get your game face on and act like you are going to take care of her but that there is nothing to be worried about and it'll settle (because it will)

If she has been unwell and had a bad reaction it is understandable you're on edge.

It helps to prep. Assume she's going to be sick, each evening make sure there is water, a basin, a towel and whatever else you need ready. This will avoid rushing around if/when it happens.

Also when it is happening, try to do deep breathing and you can say soothing things like 'this cough is hard, but you're getting better' - this will hopefully calm you as well as her.

You need to see the GP about the antibiotics issue as it is best to prep what will happen if she needs them in future.
