I found this today behind my 11 year old DC ear today. I have tried to do an online referral into the GP already but you can't do it on a weekend so will be first thing tomorrow. It's actually really scaring me and I'm normally pretty relaxed about most things.

Would this worry you or would you just think it's a freckle?

I found a couple of moles on DD’s scalp under her hair and worried similarly. Gp was dismissive. My other dd was under dermatology for something else and the paediatric derm kindly had a quick look. Said they were fine and told her to wear a Sunhat. I think I read melanomas in children are very very rare. I’m pretty sure it’s fine

Could it be ringworm? I don’t think it’s a freckle especially as it’s new. My daughter got like a flat perfectly round discolouration from the sun and the dermatologist told us just to keep it covered and said it was a normal sun mark and not something to worry about.

mollyfolk Definitely not ringworm. Not sure how long it's been there as it's quite well hidden. Will send the pic to GP and hope they put my mind at rest.
Thank you for the responses.

No it wouldn’t worry me. Skin cancer is extremely rare in children. Looks like a mole to me.

Looks like s mole to me but can't do sny harm getting it checked out.

I'd probably ask a pharmacist for advice.

You'll likely just be told to keep an eye on it and go back if any changes.

Ds has a mole on his face. It was unchanged for ages then seemed to grow overnight, was red around the edges and changed shape. Took him to GP. She said he needed a referral to dermatology but wanted to have a proper look herself first. It exploded as she touched it 🤢 It was at that point we found out that it's possible to get a regular zit in the same place as a mole!
