5yo knees

My son's knees seem to both have a bulge on the inside when looking at them. Feeling them, it just feels like bone. Is this normal? They've been like it forever I think because I remember taking a similar photo when he was a toddler. I've googled and I just got results for knock knees but it doesn't look the same.

It's worried me because he's complaining that one of his thighs hurts and he's limping about and says he can't walk. He's fine once he has calpol. Will be making a GP appointment on Monday if it carries on.

How long has the limping/pain been going on? A limp of unknown cause should be checked: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/limp-in-children/

His knees look like knees to me, have you googled images of 'normal' knees? Look at photos of similar-aged children.

Limping in children

Find out more about limping in children, which is usually caused by something minor like a sprain or strain.

Both my dc and I have knees this shape, we’re hypermobile which might explain his aches? The shape is to do with the way the muscles attach into the joint. It’s more noticeable in skinny child legs than in my fat grownup ones!

If he’s limping it needs checking out though.

I didn't think of that actually🤦‍♀️I just googled and yeah they probably are normal. I will be getting the limping checked though. Thanks :)

Ah that's interesting. Yeah, will definitely be getting the limp checked and will mention hypermobility while I'm there. Thanks :)
