Red mark / patch behind right ear?!

Hello,

I just wondered if anyone's LO has ever had anything like this before?

Yesterday morning my 1yo had a big red patch behind the ear appear. She's completely fine in herself and her other ear is normal. We are away in Mexico at the moment, to help a family member out that was on a long vacation when they became ill (kidney failure).

I can't see a bite mark, today it looks a bit scaly like this. Any ideas what it could be?

Possibly not being dried thoroughly enough after having a bath?

It looks like something rubbed against it like a bed sore

What's is she sleeping on, in and what else is in there

Maybe running from the buggy ?

Wet from sweat in the heat

doesn't look like a bite to me looks more like impetigo or some other localized viral infection.
