8 year old and puberty

Not sure if this is the right place for this. My 8 year old has been getting spots on face for a few months now and today I noticed a small few dark pubic hairs on his testicles.

Is this typical for his age? I feel its very young but maybe it's normal.

It is quite young I think according to boys in our family- is there any BO smell at all?

WhatNow20 · 07/04/2024 22:31

No, there is no smell but I have had to start washing his hair more often as getting greasy

Careful what you post.

It's within the boundaries of norm medically. My ten year old had some indication of puberty at 8 so I did have him viewed by GP.

We are now at the deodorant and growing like a weed stage.

Did I post in the wrong section? Wasn't sure where would be the appropriate place

Did GP do or say anything useful? I didn't want to bring him to doctor in case I'm making a big deal about nothing.

My 8 year old is showing no signs of puberty at all..it's not usual especially in boys however it's not abnormal if that makes sense?

For boys the average is 12 but normal could be from age 9.

GP did a blood panel as he is vegetarian to ensure he was getting sufficient iron. He went through a full medical history.

I don't think it was excessive to have a GP review. It gave me and his father peace of mind and the GP did say it was better to have a check up when on the boundaries.

I found it helpful to enquire about bone density etc. Our son is just an early bloomer so he is now ten and very tall c. 5 ft 6 ish, he has still the baby face .
