Chickenpox side effects? Hacking Cough and cold feet feet

My 3 year old DS started getting spots on his groin last Wednesday, more appeared overnight and nurse confirmed Chickenpox via telephone appointment and sending photos.
It started off absolutely fine, he's probably got about 150 spots but not overly itchy and I've heard of far worse cases. Infact if the spots weren't there you wouldn't have been able to tell he had it, no other symptons at all.
However, since Monday he has developed a hacking cough which I assumed was maybe cause his immune system was running lower then normal, and that being generally unwell was par the course. He's now full of cold and the cough seems to be getting worse. He also has cold hands and feet, which is common for him when he gets a cold but making me a bit more anxious with him also having chickenpox. He cough sounds a lot more dry then usual. Not sure about getting him a docs appointment tomorrow or is this usual for Chickenpox? I haven't got any other children to compare with.

I think the cold hands and feet when poorly are only a concern if it's along with a high temperature

Most chickenpox patients have an infection in the respiratory tract. They cough, sneeze and have irritated airways. Like a cold.
It is rare that pneumonia occurs but have it in mind.
Cold hands and feet often go along with a fever.

Does he get Calpol? It could help.

Consult your GP if you are concerned.
