Hello everyone , first post on here, does anyone have any good recipes that help constipation in a child , my son has chronic constipation since he was a baby , he used to eat prune puree everyday to keep him regular , but once he got his own likes and dislikes for food , he stopped eating it. Anyone have any prune recipes that children will actually eat? Flax seed or other good constipation food recipes?

Thank you ☺️

Coconut milk is a fantastic softner, and generally lots of good fats, olive oil etc. Avocado ice lolies (I blend then freeze avo with cocoa and coconut milk and don't mention the avocado).

Any fruit which they'll gobble up in large quantities - mango is a great one.

Tonnes of water, novelty flasks, smoothies, juice.

Does he soil? It’s really important to get on top of childhood constipation as if not treated properly they can get a “baggy rectum” where they store poo incorrectly with nerve damage and loss of sensation. He may need a daily laxative to help keep everything soft. I’ve had 12 years of dealing with it and I do think I could have made more of a difference if treated more aggressively in early childhood.

apricots as a daily snack are great, raisins, unlimited melon and fruits with high water content. It’s also hydration that’s really important and exercise. We often have a breakfast fruit smoothie with flaxseeds in. Porridge helps. Ensure toilet time 20mins after eating and that they have a stool for their feet so in correct position. Encourage rocking backwards and forward to help get the poo out.

Melt chocolate, mix in bran flakes and chopped apricots and prunes. Spoon into paper cases and cool to set.

I make high fibre cookies from a recipe I found online. Has ground flaxseed and wholemeal flour, choc chips.

Looking for more recipes tbh.
