Possible scarlet fever?

Hi,

DS has a red rash on his torso and back which is very rough to touch and sounds very much like the rash for scarlet fever but apart from that he is okay.

No temp, no strawberry tongue and no temp. He has very mild cold symptoms but not so bad I would find them concerning on their own. Could this still be scarlet fever?

Thank you.

Same here for DD. Based in South London. Apparently it's super contagious, so that's my Easter childcare plan up in flames.

I would get it checked out. Long term side effects can be awful so you want treatment @lookwhatyoudidthere the person with it is no longer contiguous 24 hours after starting antibiotics but without antibiotics it’s 30 days!

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your DD and hope she is feeling better soon Flowers I'm in Scotland so must be everywhere just now.

Had DS at the doctor yesterday and it is scarlet fever and strep throat so not having a good start to Easter holidays! And working from home with him while he's like this isn't easy either.

My 2.5 year old us just getting over strep/scarlet fever - the rash came before she got ill too. Seems to be rife at the moment.

My advice is as much fluid as he can manage, squash or milk or anything he likes. Ice cream or lollies for the sore throat. My daughter got quite dehydrated from refusing to swallow and think that made it worse. Other than that let him rest and hopefully the ABs will work quickly, they did in our case. Sending 💐

I'm happy to hear your little one is feeling better, the ABs seem to be working quickly here as well thankfully!

From what I am hearing a lot of DS nursery have been off with scarlet fever the last few weeks so it's not surprising he's caught it.
I'm just hoping my older DS doesn't catch it as well.
