This is about my 8 y/o ds. So, we have come away to the seaside for the week. He adores the beach and we've been everyday since arriving last Friday. Yesterday he woke up feeling a little off. His temperature was 38.5, but he perked up and his temp came down with calpol.

The night before one of his front molars came out. He has ASD and ADHD and oral hygiene is something he struggles with and i feel so embarrassed that his teeth are in an awful state. His gum where his tooth came from is fine and he's not in any pain. A couple of days before he found little bites on one of his ankles. They were itchy but that's about all. They're not sore or inflamed....

I'm quite anxious when it comes to my kids and I'm really worried that he has this temp and no obvious cause. Am I right in thinking that it's more than likely viral? He's eating, drinking and still wanted to visit the beach yesterday. His temp is also coming down with calpol/nurofen.

Sorry for the muddled up post. It sometimes helps to let it out.

Just give Calpol to bring the temp down and carry on. As long as he’s eating/drinking/playing he’s fine.

I’d say the same and I wouldn’t be worried if one of my kids had a temp of 38.5. If they were still eating, drinking and playing. You don’t have to give calpol or nurofen just to get a temperature down if they’re ok in themselves.

Thanks for the reassurance. He's been OK since posting :)
