Blood and pus in 4 yr olds urine but they aren’t treating it?

Long story but in brief - 4 year itching down below and pain actually in her tummy when (pelvic region). I’ve probably left it longer than I should (over a month) before seeing a GP.

Saw a GP who did a swab, urine sample and sent both samples off to hospital. Also prescribed a thrush type cream in case it’s that.

Hospital lab results show pus and blood in urine, but ‘no bugs were grown’ - their words. The GP is convinced the result is explanatory of a fungal infection not UTI, so hasn’t treated with antibiotics.

What do you think? I’m getting my 4 yr old to drink loads of fluids to try and flush whatever it is out, but should I ask for a second opinion?

Thanks

That’s very worrying for you. What does GP say about the abdominal pain?

Thanks for replying. To be honest it was a junior GP I spoke to and who has been dealing with it - I know everyone is junior at some point and that her work will likely be overseen. She didn’t really offer an explanation and just kept repeating that ‘’no bugs were grown’. We booked an appointment for a review in a week.

If there were no bacteria in the urine, then at that age it's far more likely to be external irritation/thrush etc than something where antibiotics would do any good.

If she continues to have pain in her ? lower abdomen Is it possible to reattend to ask another GP or go to another clinic ?
