How long a wait to see paediatrician?

My ds5 has been vomplainibg about his eyes suddenly going blurry so I took him to the optician )only had a check up 6 months ago) who couldn't find anything wrong but suggested gp. We went to see GP as I also realised he gets a lot of growing pains in his legs (to be fair I did too) and headaches at bedtime. He has also been particularly clumsy recently and pulled both of us over (again I am too and have always been very clumsy) but I hadn't linked anything together.
The doctor did some strength tests and said he seemed fine apart from his odd gait (it doesn't seem odd to me) but she would refer him to a paediatrician.
He has now had a back ache for 3 days solid. Does anyone know how long a referral takes these days? Does anyone hace any idea what it could be? I am nd and he probably is too. He seems fine apart from the paint in his back and the fuzzy/blurry eyes on occasions.

It really depends. You can see a junior dr the next day or a consultant in 2 weeks here if urgent. We've been seen really quickly sometimes but for more routine stuff you wait for much longer.

Our paediatrician referred us to a different paediatrician in October and the appointment came through over Christmas with a jr Dr and first week of Jan for consultant

It depends on if it's a routine referral or urgent one. Routine here is 16 months (!) for paediatrics. I would hope urgent is much quicker. I would call your gp and update them that he has a backache now too.
