Waiting for blood test results scared

Hi

Can anyone help? I'm going out of my mind with worry. My daughter has in the last 2/3 weeks got unexplained bruises on her legs, nursery raised the issue although we had noticed and initially thought it's general toddler bruises (she's 21 months). When nursery raised it I made an urgent GP appointment where I said I was worried about leukemia. The GP said she wasn't thinking leukemia but the only way to know was blood test. I booked one but it's not for another 3 weeks. Yesterday nursery rang to say they had seen a little blue spot appear under her eye and then it changed from round to long. Also they could feel little lumps under her skin on her thigh. She did have a lump after her vaccination but that was in July 23. I've panicked and taken her for a private blood test and now sat waiting for the results. They said they'd send to the GP within 48 hours. We have an appointment with the GP tomorrow mainly about the lumps and under eye bruise. The original bruises on the legs have pretty much gone, the original GP said to monitor and make sure they don't get bigger and that they fade which we have done and they've pretty much all disappeared. I can't bare the wait for the blood test results. If there's something wrong would the GP call us and by when? Or would it just still be 48 hours even if something is wrong.
I'm going out of my mind wondering what all this could be and can only think leukemia. She is fine in herself, has a cold currently but hasn't been unwell and is generally not a poorly child. Anyone have any experience?

Bump. Anyone?
Had the blood tests at 10.30am and the drs is closed now and they haven't yet told me what the results are, though the hospital said 48 hours. Had hoped that the 48 hour thing was conservative and they would be back before then.

If anything concerning comes up they will let you know immediately. Hopefully it’s nothing to worry about. The fact she is well in herself is really encouraging.

My DS was sent to A&E for urgent bloods (suspected leukaemia) and we had the results back in an hour. The consultant said she would have expected him to be much more unwell (rather than jumping all about the ward) which put my mind at rest whilst waiting for the results. The bloods were perfectly normal despite bruising, nose bleeds and raised lymph nodes.

(It was just a viral infection!)

From what you posted, looks positive.
I know how you re waiting for blood tests that are about something worrying.
Other than that cant say anything but just talk to your OH/parents as they can comfort you until you get the news and hoping its good as nothing to worry about

I had a call within an hour to take my DS back to hospital after his blood test (he had leukaemia) so it is a good sign you haven't heard anything yet. Sorry you're going through this, the wait is awful.

Ds has had bloods done for suspected leukaemia twice (aged about 2yo and 8yo), once due to bruising, one due to fatigue and other symptoms. Both times he was clear. The first time the doctor said it was just a check and didn't think it was, but it needed ruling out; the second time (fatigue) he thought it was likely enough to tell me to pack a hospital bag for a potentially long stay.

I think if the bruises have gone then they are not likely to have been caused by leukaemia. Those bruises tend to be in unusual places (which a child's legs are not really) and take longer to disappear.

What are the leg lumps like? The blue dot sounds very odd (although not indicative of anything much). Did you see it yourself?

Try not to worry, the things you describe really wouldn't set alarm bells ringing for me.

Clarification

Re "looks positive" I meant it should be good news as bruises are going away and no new ones

It could be baby is climbing over toys etc

Good luck

Sorry you are going through this. My son was referred for bloods last month and I was told results would take up to a week.

I had a call from GP surgery within 24 hours instructing me to book a further blood test. It was a horrible weekend wait until I could make it into the surgery to get the actual results. Nothing sinister, but slightly high readings indicating infection (which he had been suffering with).

We had the second blood test a few days ago and haven't heard anything. I am taking that as positive assuming that a worrying result would be picked up sooner.
