Croup age 7?

My daughter is 7 and used to be prone to croup. Then it stopped happening for a couple of years but now it's back. She had a horrible episode last night and I can't get her in at the gp as they're full. Will they even do anything anyway? She was never treated for it previously but I understand 7 is quite old for them so get it and I'm wondering if it's quite unusual? I'm going to try for the afternoon urgent appointment but there's only 1 apparently so if I can't get that one then it's out of hours. She's can cope during the day but when she wakes up in the night and has an episode where she struggles to get her breaths in it's really scary.

Just wondering if it could be whooping cough - there is a lot of it about at the moment.

DTs had croup loads when they were younger and still get random bouts age 11.

GP won't do anything. Best bet is to take her to urgent care when she is crouping (which no doubt will be in the middle of the night) so she can have dexo.

I finally managed to get my GP to prescribe tablet version dexo to keep at home but it was a battle.

@idontlikealdi yeah this was my worry, that the gp wouldn't do anything anyway. We don't have an urgent care past 10pm, just A&E 🙄

@Seeline pretty sure it's croup, very familiar with it unfortunately, but will hopefully get her seen by GP / out of hours later to check.
