Hi,

My LO is 8 weeks old, her hernia seems huge to me and health visitors and doctors keep giving different advice! Latest being that I should push it in once a day.

Has anyone had something similar? would love to hear your thoughts please!

I don’t have any medical experience at all OP, but surely that should be operated on. Hopefully someone will come along with their own experience soon x

My son's hernia when he was 3m old , it disappeared few months later. We got it checked by local gp and paediatrician abroad

My daughter's got to that size, I was told to be patient, just make sure it didn't change colour. A couple of weeks later, as I was really panicking and the GP said if it gets bigger we'll refer for surgery, it suddenly started to shrink. Many do get better on their own, hence the "wait and see" approach. I do understand the worry though x

The vast majority of umbilical hernias go away on their own. And unlike inguinal hernias, it's virtually unheard of for them to get stuck. So it would be putting a baby though an unnecessary anaesthetic and operation.

Thank you so much for your replies! they're really reassuring. Fingers crossed my daughters shrinks soon.
