Hey everyone,

I've never posted before and have seen a gp before anyone suggests that.

I just want to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation and what the outcomes have been.

My dd was born on 31/08/23, 2 weeks early weighing 8lb 10oz

Since then she has been gaining weight very slowly, while dropping centiles. 91st at birth all the way down to the 19th (14lb 7oz). She is ebf. She has suffered terribly with reflux, no medicine has worked, and no dietary changes on my part have made any difference.

So we had been referred to the pediatric department at the children's hospital but are still waiting for an appointment months later. My issue now is at the latest weigh in she was 9th centile and has actually lost about 7oz in the last 2 weeks (now weighs 14lbs). The only thing that's changed in the last 2 weeks is the addition of a little solid food, which really shouldn't be causing weight loss.

I will be calling the gp again tomorrow and getting another app but in the meantime please, anyone what could this be?

What reflux treatments have you tried we didn't have much success until we were on the highest dose of omperazole with gaviscon and with domperidone. The domperidone was a game changer.
What dietary changes did you try my daughter has 20 food allergies and we didn't get her fully undercontrol until all 3 were identified and some are odd like onions and garlic and took ages to identify!

Weaning doesn't always help with weight gain as the food is often of lower calorie density than milk. If she has a tummy full of carrot and doesn't want milk she will have less calories. My daughter has severe reflux and many food allergies but gained weight beautifully until 7 months and then she took 5 months to put on 200g. Our HV said this was quite common as they are starting to move more but their appetite doesn't match up so their weight gain slows or goes backwards. If you are already having slow weight gain it's easy for it to slide further backwards. My daughter was on the 9th percentile until I found her key allergens and then she moved up to the 35th. She's 3 now and stabilised around the 25th

My sister had severe projectile reflux and was under the 0.4th percentile until 12. My mum warned early, I dread to think at what age this was as it was 1981 and normal weaning was 16 weeks! She said it was traumatic and made no difference to her weight or reflux. She got on the 0.4th curve at 1 and stayed their until 2 when she jumped to the 50th. I suspect she had cmpa as she struggled with sickness as an adult that completely went away when she went vegan at 40. My mum can only tolerate dairy up to cooked cheese so it must be in the genes!
