Lumps found on DS neck

Earlier on I found 2 lumps on either side of DS (3yo) neck. Last Tuesday he became poorly. Temperature, sleepy, no appetite, just not himself. Since then no more high temps, appetite has slightly come back but he’s still sleeping more than usual and I wouldn’t say he’s 100% yet. He’s also developed a cough and runny nose since yesterday.

I’m hoping these lumps are due to him having a cold and nothing more serious. Has anyone had this with their DC? I am going to phone GP tomorrow

Do they move when you touch them?

Most likely lymph nodes. Frightened me when I felt them on my DD when she was poorly.

Completely normal for them to be enlarged when unwell. However if you have any concerns, speak to GP. Mine said she's would rather reassure parents 10 times over than miss something.

Yes, it is almost certainly swollen lymph glands because of the infection last week. Phone the GP if you're worried but it sounds perfectly normal to me.

Thank you. Yes they move

Sounds like swollen glands. DS always had swollen glands in his neck when poorly, sometimes this would actually be the only outward sign he was poorly.

Just his glands up, that's their reaction to fighting infection, don't worry.

Thank you everyone, not panicking now😅
