Cerebral Palsy and being poorly

My 7 month baby is on the pathway to a cerebral palsy diagnosis. The first red flag (of a few) was that they had a very strong preference to the right hand and would only take an object from the right. This has actually improved in the last two weeks and will now take with both hands at the same time.

My toddler has had a horrible virus this week and I think the baby may have caught it and today he isn't using his left arm at all. It’s just laying limply to the side and it’s the worst I’ve seen it. I know CP isn’t progressive but is it normal for it to flair up when poorly?

This is obviously a very worrying time. My toddler was a textbook baby but this time around we have a lot of problems and I’m feeling very anxious and a bit crazy!

Sorry this is so worrying for you. Can you take some videos and send to the HV/paed or whoever is leading the care on the pathway?
If it gets worse you may need to take them to ED
