Constipation or a stomach bug?

Hi all,

Twice before my son has had short lived constipation once aged 5 and once aged 7, both times were resolved with a week of laxido 2 sachets per day. He's now 9. On Monday he began to lose his appetite and say he was feeling a bit nauseous off/on, yesterday he was much the same and also stating his tummy feels full and sore, so I gave him one laxido sachet around dinner time yesterday as he'd not pooped on Monday or as of that time yesterday either. Last night he did a poo and said he was feeling a lot better, he ate breakfast this morning and went to school fine. I then got a call to come pick him up as he wasn't feeling well, got him home and decided to give him another cup of laxido but within 10 minutes of drinking it he's just thrown up. Still says tummy hurts around the belly button area. The previous times he's had constipation he's never thrown up (just nausea and lack of appetite).
Is this constipation or a tummy bug? Usually tummy bugs are quite fast onset rather than 48hrs of feeling unwell before vomiting begins. I'll obviously call the GP in the morning as we have to ring before 12pm to speak to anyone at my surgery but was wondering what others thoughts and advice were please.

I’d say it’s a tummy bug. My son is on movicol daily and sometimes he can have loose stools if he’s eaten loads of fruit as well as the movicol but it never makes him sick.

I took my son to the GP this morning she checked him over, temp fine oxygen/HR fine, felt his stomach which he said hurt for her to do but she said he's not bloated and she listened to the bowel and couldn't hear any abnormal but she was skeptical of it being a bug because they're usually sudden onset and he's had nausea for 2 days and reduced bowel movements. She gave us lactulose to try instead of the laxido as she said sometimes the volume of liquid needed for laxido can cause them to throw up on an already nauseous tummy but she was concerned about his lethargy. Anyone's child had lethargy with constipation?
