Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Has he to go for a more thorough eye test?
That will give a better indication of whether he needs glasses or not.

School eye test should be followed by a proper eye test at an optometrist. They can advise or recommend an ophthalmologist consult.
Do your son's health issues come with optical manifestations?

Could you look at it from a different angle?

It's great at it's been picked up now and can be treated. It's only possible to improve amblyopia up to the age of 7/8, so if it had been detected at a later date, it may have been too late to improve his visual acuity.

Have you been referred on to the hospital or a community optometrist?

It's actually very common for children who have a form of SEND or a serious congenital health condition to need to wear glasses.
