Does anyone else's child speak almost exclusively in echolalia? My daughter is almost 4 and not officially diagnosed with autism yet, but the panel are meeting this month.
If I ask her a question I get a blank look, she can't ask for anything, she speaks entirely in things she's heard on peppa pig (which is her special interest) she dosnt just like it, she lives and breathes it.
"how lucky" "sorry daddy big" "cousin chloe" "dinosaur" "muddy puddles" they are all phrases I hear on a daily basis. She always does some phrases from Ben and holly. This time last year she didn't have any speech what so ever, so I'm very happy to hear her talk, my only worry is that she will be going to a mainstream school in September, fingers crossed the one I want which has a sen provision 🤞🏻
my question is for parents with children who were similar at this age, how will school work if she only speaks in learnt phrases? She can't (yet) answer a question, or ask for the toilet or anything. I'm just a little worried.
