MMR text

Has anyone received a text in error yesterday from NHS MMR vaccinations campaign? My kids have had all their MMR jabs. But according to the text it says they haven’t. Made me doubt myself, so I checked in their red books and it says they have had it

Yes I got it too. My eldest had the first abroad but I did give all the details to the practice nurse who updated her records so that shouldn’t be it!

Ah glad I wasn’t the only one then. Got me worried for a min when received it and made me double check!

I got this too. DS has definitely had it......have they been sent in error then?

MyOwnSpace · 07/02/2024 11:04

I guess must be sent in error. The way it was worded made it sound like your kid hasn’t had the jab.

I had that too. Definitely had both doses.

AmeliaEarhart · 07/02/2024 11:20

Yes, I did. Like the PP, my children both had one jab in UK and the other abroad, but all were recorded by GP.

PuttingDownRoots · 07/02/2024 11:22

Yes I did! I presumed it was because she had had her preschool boosters under Army health care not NHS and the two systems frequently have wobbles like that... its mot the first time they've had chunks missing.

But... how annoying was it just getting the NHS number, so I had to find their NHS numbers to work out which child, and then look through their records?

SisterMichaelsHabit · 07/02/2024 11:23

Yes I keep being harrangued for all sorts of vaccinations that the kids have had abroad or in the UK and the GP knows about (even ones they've had at that GP surgery). I've taken their books in twice and still get these letters/text messages. I wish instead of harassing people about it with a system that doesn't seem to speak to the GP surgeries' system, they'd spend the money on meaningful outreach to disengaged communities who are fearful of vaccines. That would improve uptake much better than preaching to the converted!

MyOwnSpace · 07/02/2024 11:37

@SisterMichaelsHabit you’re right about that. A text message to parents that don’t want their kids to have the vaccine is not going to cut it. Talking to those fearful would be more useful

It took about a year for us to not get a reminder about my daughters 1 year vaccines. She had them at the hospital and they didn't put them on the system/inform the GP surgery. Eventually one of the nurses phoned me after a different paediatrician put "up to date with vaccinations" on an clinical letter.

It might be worth a call to your practice manager with the dates of vaccines to make sure their records are up to date and correct. Certain professions need copies of vaccination records so it's important that your GP has the correct information. My partner is a biologist and in one of his roles he needed his vaccinations recorded

I received the same text twice yesterday for two of my children who are both up to date on their MMR and had both doses in the UK.

HerderofDragons · 07/02/2024 12:59

Received these texts for 2 out of 3 of my kids yesterday. All up to date, all vaccinated in UK at Dr's. With the first text I faffed around with red book thinking I'd messed up (though knew I hadn't). Didn't bother checking 2nd text as certain child had both MMRs. It's very annoying- wonder how many have been sent in error.

egowise · 07/02/2024 13:05

My eldest daughter had the text. She has also had all doses.

ShillyShallySherbet · 07/02/2024 15:39

I had texts yesterday saying to contact the GP as my children’s vaccinations “may” not be up to date and to call the surgery to check. I went and checked their red books and saw they’ve had both doses, but I rang just to check two was enough! It is. I reckon they’re just sending it out to everyone to get people to check and catch any that have been missed.
