Underlapping toe

Hi. My DS, 9 has complained about his little toe a couple of times. I had a closer look when I was helping cut his toenails this evening, and it's sore and dry.

I got him to stand bare foot so I could have a proper look, and it seems that his little toe is underlapping the toe next to it. The side of his foot also looks a bit different to the other, like there's a bit that juts out.

Obviously I will get it seen to, but wondering if anyone has a similar experience? Should I see the GP or a podiatrist? Thank you.

I had that. I was a little younger that your son but it was fixed with shoe inserts from a podiatrist and the wonky toe was taped to train it into the correct place. I was thinking about that recently actually as I noticed in yoga class that I can't do something with my feet that everyone else can and wondering if that's why.

Thank you @rainbowbee that's quite reassuring that it was fixed without surgery.

Podiatrist for a silicon toe divider to train the position
