High temperature

I'm a single parent with not much support so I wanted to check what other people would do.

My son is 9 and has had a high temperature all day. I've been alternating calpol and ibuprofen since he woke up despite this his temp was 39.7 when I took it a minute ago. He's been lying on the sofa since this morning and is complaining of a headache, especially behind his eyes. He's not eaten and only had a few sips of drink.

He has no other symptoms. Do I continue giving painkillers to see if his temperature comes down? Ring 111? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Call 111, if it isn't being controlled with nurofen and calpol then it needs medical attention. Also the headache, I'd be worried about meningitis

Hopefully you have called 111. Hope he improves soon.

You need to call 111 in this situation.
