Tummy bug advice for my 1 year old!

Just looking for reassurance/advice as I’m a first time mum and new to all this! My little one was throwing up Friday/Saturday morn & had diarrhoea since Saturday evening until today. Naturally I know he’s going to be tired, but as we’re on the 4th day now I wondered roughly how long can these things take to pass? He’s so tired, waking for an hour or so then wanting to sleep again. He’s drinking his fluids and eating a very small amount. Any tips welcome!!

Oh dear - poor you.

It's a "how long is a piece of string?" type question

Is he weeing normal amounts? Was he running a temperature, and if so has it settled?

His nappies seem normal to me, in between the diarrhoea that is, and since yesterday he has had a temperature of 38.6 - which has gone back down following calpol doses. This morning I’ve just given more calpol as it was 37 at 8am then 38.7 about 20 mins ago! As I say the temperature started yesterday afternoon. X

My toddlers having similar symptoms! Vomiting and fever started Friday followed by extreme drowsiness. Its day 4 today and no more vomiting and he feels very hot and sweaty but when we check his temps actually fine. Hes not had food for four days either we took him to hosp they said as long as hes having fluid and fruit juices to keep sugar up and wetting nappies hes fine.

they said main key is to keep him hydrated also offer juice to keep blood sugar levels normal. Hes still very sleepy today but im hoping theres improvement by the end of the week.

Yes luckily my sons diarrhoea & high temp has stopped today (today is day 5) & he’s eating little bits here and there. He does have a couple of episodes of vomiting a couple of hours after eating, but I feel like that is down to his stomach being sensitive after 3-4 days of pretty much no food. I also got told about the sugar squash/cordial trick for blood sugars. Such a shame for them bless them, really seems to be knocking our babies about!

If you can, stick to plain food as much as possible in small amounts. My kids tend to beg for lots of snacks or cereal when they are bouncing back from a vomiting bug but if they eat dairy in particular it can reappear quickly! Dilute some fruit juice: I do about half and half apple juice and water, and offer sips frequently, and if you happen to be breastfeeding he might want extra feeds. Hope it all settles quickly from here on.
