Soiling/ Picosulfate
We have been under the paediatrician for around a year now. My son has been on laxido /movicol for around 18 months and now picosulfate since we saw paediatrician (5ml daily).
He was doing really well and soiling became non existent but the last few weeks I feel we are back to square one. He is soiling pretty much daily and now is only having a poo when he has toilet sits as directed by paediatrician.. I can't remember the last time he went because he needed to which is really worrying me.
He has just turned 5 and am so worried this is going to be long term for him. I'm really not keen on the picosulphate this long term either. He also hasn't been for 2 days despite being on movicol and pico.
We are seeing paediatrician on 12th. Should i be asking for scans or something? I feel like we are going to go and he's just going to say keep on with what you're doing and see you In another 4 months 😢😢
Please can anyone give me some advice? Thanks xx

@Lindsd87 I don't have any advice I'm afraid, only to suggest that you write down everything that's worrying you and say it all when you see the paediatrician. I always get flustered in appointments and forget what I want to ask. The ERIC website is useful if you haven't already discovered it.

Track the patterns for a month and consider if you really need meds or just a change of diet and water. Unless it is an underlying condition or illness it should be possible to treat with diet. Perhaps ask the doctor that?

My DS10 has been on constipation medication since he was 4. He is on 5ml picosulphate too but sometimes we increase to 6 or 7 if he is struggling. I agree with you that it is concerning that he has not been for two days while he is on the meds and I would ring the GP.

Is this not unusual to be on medication for so long unless there is an underlying illness?
