Yesterday my 9 year old son passed out twice at school and then again twice in hospital. I was there for the two faints at hospital and they did look like seizures but the consultant assured me they were not.

He has chest xray, bloods, ecg x2 and hours of blood pressure monitoring along with a Covid test and a flu test.

The consultant saw us at around 3pm and said things were still unexplained so we would stay in until his heart rate slowed down (it had been too slow earlier, now too fast).

At around 5ish the triage nurse did his obs again and noticed he now had a temperature and that would explain the heart rate being a bit fast (it did come down at times,, then went back up).

They gave him calpol then about 6.30 we were told by the nurse we could go home.

She said consultant had reviewed everything, all fine and it is a viral infection.

Has anybody experienced this? It was terrifying to see him that way. I’m terrified to let him out my sight. He’s a very active boy but the thought of him playing football etc is scaring me. Obviously he is taking it easy atm but there were just no signs this would happen or that he was ill.

I’m keeping up the calpol.

Thank you
