Hi guys really needing some help. We have all came down with a pretty nasty dose since last week. Started with myself temperature very achy body cough. As expected it went through the whole house.
My two small children 8 and 9 also caught it over the weekend back to back fever constant nurofen and calpol.
Sunday no fever at all now but yesterday my 7 year old started coughing last night she couldn't seem to stop.
She woke at 2am crying with a bad headache I gave nurofen half hour later vomiting. So I brought her to after hours to double check her doctor said viral.
Glands up and red throat. Went home slept fine , she woke today and had a banana 30 mins later vomiting again.
So just left food away and focused on getting fluids in. She started to perk up as evening went on had small bit of dinner kept that down. Like clockwork woke again with bad headache.
I'm getting worried are these headaches normal with viral infections?
Any advice appreciated.

Have a look down her throat with a torch, any red spots?

Headache can be dehydration, is she drinking/weeing enough?

Sounds like an average winter illness to me. My 2 year old has had a terrible cough, fever, wretching and when putting his jumper on, he says don't touch my head it's sore. My husband is also ill with body aches and cough.

Hi Op, it’s good she’s been checked by a GP. It’s so worrying when they have headaches. My DC get them often with viruses / dehydration. If she’s being sick, keep up the fluids and lots of rest. If the headaches persist and you notice other red flags (headaches worse in the morning / waking from sleep / not being controlled with Calpol etc) then go back to GP. Hopefully she will be better in a few days 🙂

That sounds terrible! We have all had similar, toddler presented with scarlet fever and the rest of us all have had horrible sore throats, fever cough (covid neg). I ended up on antibiotics for strep throat but they’ve done nothing for my cough.

hope you all feel better soon
