Morning all, hoping someone might be able to pass over some info or at the very least some reassurance for me. My DS6 had a bout of throat infection / tonsilitis back in Nov which he had antibiotics for and seemed to get completely better from this. Since that, he has seemed to have a runny cold, a mild cough and a bit of throat pain kind of every 5-7 days. Normally I wouldn't be phased as I know children can get viruses which may linger a bit, but we've also had a quite a lot of other symptoms appearing in the last few weeks/days and I don't know if I'm worrying over nothing or not. His appetite has gradually worsened in the last few weeks, but more so in the last 7-10 days - to the point that this morning before school I left a Cellebration chocolate with his breakfast. 2 months ago he would've wolfed it down, but he had one small nibble and it was left on his plate. He doesn't feel sick, but says he isn't hungry all the time. He's maybe slightly more tired than normal but not worryingly so - although yesterday afternoon he did fall asleep on the sofa for half an hour saying he's just really tired (he'd had ample sleep the night before and he'd been having a lazy day). He's been complaining of some leg pain in the last week, and last night his hand, despite no obvious cause. He's a had a slightly higher temperature for the last 6 days - around 38-38.2'c, but ONLY in the night. He wakes up in the morning and it's completely normal, as it is through the day until the evening / night. He's quite a pale skinned boy (as am I pale skinned), but we went to the park Saturday and out in the natural light it alarmed me how white he looked, not just pale but really white. We've spent a lot of time in over Christmas and the weather hasn't been pleasant so everything has been a dim, but out in the natural light it become quite apparent. Again, at the park Saturday, he was playing with his younger brother and kept stopping and starting when he was trying to run around and play. I asked was he ok and he responded with 'yes, I'm just breathless". He definitely hadn't been exerting himself in the slightest. This one may just be a typical 6 year old but his mood has changed over the last few weeks - a lot of showing off over nothing and quite over the top tantrums which he's never really done since toddler hood. I'm not normally too much of a worrier but he just seems to have a lot of something right now. I have a doctor calling back tomorrow to try and fit him in for an appointment. But I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this with their child, what it turned out to be, etc.

Forgot to add, there are our other 3 children alongside DS in our house and no one else is ill.

One of my daughters is the same at the moment. She’s had an on/off cold for what seems like months, random leg pain, she’s had a couple of episodes of sickness, high temp but only a bit high on and off through the day and I feel she looks pale and tired which is just not like her. She’s not a complainer but I feel something n has been lingering for weeks and weeks now.

I did. So I took him to the doctor and the first thing she said was "gosh he is pale". We had a chat, he had a top to toe check and she took a ton of blood there and then to send off urgently. We had her ring back the morning after with the results so a fab doctor tbf. Thankfully nothing bad. His infection marker is a bit high and his viral marker a bit low showing he's currently fighting an infection now. It looks likes he's had back to back viral infections since November which absolutely sucks for him. As it is she's happy to just monitor him and see how he goes.
