Extra hair growth and unibrow/monibrow

My 10 week old has had a hairy forehead and unibrow since birth however, rather than falling out it seems the hair is growing even more. I’ve attached photos at a couple of weeks old and now. The hair is only visible in certain light. Has anyone else had any experience of this? Going to see a HV tomorrow but it’s making me worry it’s abnormal.

Worry about what?

This is a strange post.

I’m assuming this is your first?

hopeandblessings · 02/01/2024 10:11

Medical conditions linked to extra hair growth. Not sure why it’s strange?

What are you worried about?

hopeandblessings · 02/01/2024 10:12

Yes 🤣 most babies I see have pretty much no hair or eyebrows

And how do you think they eventually get the hair and eyebrows?

hopeandblessings · 02/01/2024 10:16

Everything I’ve read says lanugo, which is what I thought the hair was, falls out within a few weeks of birth. My babies hair hasn’t fallen out and has got darker which is where my concern is. I’m worried it’s abnormal and wondering if anyone has experienced something similar to put my mind at ease.

While there are some very rare conditions linked to unibrow, excessive hair. The hair would tend to be very pronounced.

Most babies have the very light hair your little one has. We just don't have the privilege of staring at them for hours 😉.

Thank you for your reply! This is what I’m worried about :-(

Hopefully the HV can reassure you but it looks totally normal
