My 2 year old has an EEG tomorrow for suspected seizures.
I feel sick with anxiety, what will this involve? Obviously she's only just 2 and won't sit still, will they have to sedate her or anything?

I doubt they will sedate her. I think it's 12 leads attached. I've had it done for a minute but it might be longer. Hope it goes ok.

Hi Op, my DS had an EEG for suspected silent seizures back in 2020 when he was 7. He was fine with it, the technician distracted him with a TV by putting on his favourite show. It took ages to put all the cables onto his head (this was the longest part) and then they did the flashing lights etc and then we could take it all off his head (his head needed a good wash after). The worst but for him was watching very quick flashing lights as he had to try and keep his eyes open. It may be slightly different for a younger child, but this was our experience. We had the results about a month later, which I had to chase as the paediatrician forgot to let me know the results, so make sure you know who to speak with in case you don’t hear back after a month.

Sedating her would defeat the object. The EEG measures brainwaves to see what your daughter's triggers are.

She'll be absolutely fine. It doesn't hurt, it's not uncomfortable.
I mostly felt silly with all the wires and Christ knows what all over me!
